History

Handball VIC

At Handball Victoria, our passion for handball drives everything we do. We are deeply committed to advancing, promoting, and expanding the reach of handball throughout the state of Victoria. As the recognized State Sporting Association for Handball and the governing body for both Handball and Beach Handball within Victoria, we are dedicated to fostering the growth, development, and excellence of these dynamic sports within our local community.

As the affiliated State Member of Handball Australia, HV stands as a fundamental pillar within the Australian handball landscape, working tirelessly to elevate the sport to new heights.

With a rich history of nurturing talent and organizing electrifying events, our team of dedicated volunteers is on a relentless mission to provide athletes of all ages and skill levels with opportunities to immerse themselves in the excitement of handball. Rooted in our core values of sportsmanship, camaraderie, inclusion, and integrity, we strive to create an environment where every player can thrive.

Our Board

Led by a passionate team of elected Executive Board Members and appointed General Board Members who share our vision, our governance ensures that our organisation remains focused and effective in achieving our goals.

Molina Asthana

PRESIDENT

Molina joined the Board of Handball as Chair in August 2024. Molina is an experienced commercial lawyer. She serves on various boards including Law Institute of Victoria, Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand, Graduate House of the University of Melbourne, AFL South East Regional Advisory Council (Chair) Table Tennis Victoria and  Gymnastics Victoria (former Chair). Molina is the founder of Multicultural Women in Sport and advisor to the Australian Sports Commission on three projects. She is Up cricket Australia Ambassador and was the inaugural Change Her Game Ambassador for the State of Victoria. She is also the National Chair for Sport, Art and Culture for the Australia India Business Council. She has received multiple awards for her work.

Amy Crosland

BOARD MEMBER

Amy joined the Handball Victoria Board in April 2024. Amy has had a diverse career working within government, international development, NGOs and corporate, and over the last decade has been dedicated to the sports technology industry. Amy’s passion for the potential of technology to drive innovative solutions, big ideas, and real change within the sporting landscape is matched only by her enthusiasm for sports.

Sarah Venning

VICE PRESIDENT

Sarah joined the Handball Victoria Board as Vice President in February 2022. Sarah has over fifteen years experience as a Sports Administrator having worked for a number of Olympic Sports including swimming, hockey and football across a variety of high performance, community and event roles. Currently Sarah works at the City of Melbourne where she is overseeing the role out of Council's Fair Access plan. Sarah has a keen interest ensuring that sport is a safe and inclusive space for everyone, particularly women and girls, members of the LGBTQI+ community and people with a disability.
